Ernest Carrière Inc. and Girard Inc., both well-established companies with several years of history, merge to become Aliments Carrière Inc. (CARRIERE Foods). The company then embarks on a series of acquisitions, aiming to restructure s a number of companies in precarious financial health and in so doing ensure the survival of the Quebec vegetable processing industry.

CARRIERE Foods becomes the majority shareholder in Société Coopérative Légubec Inc., based in Rougemont, Quebec.

December

Acquisition of Snyder et fils, in Bedford, Quebec, a frozen-vegetable plant, includes rights to the Arctic Gardens brand.

Acquisition of entire capital assets of Conserverie Girard et Beaudin Inc., a canning company.
Company becomes owner of the Cobi Foods Inc. canning factory facilities in Berwick, Nova Scotia.
CARRIERE Foods acquires the plant in Sainte-Martine, Quebec, owned at the time by multinational Pillsbury Ltd.
CARRIERE Foods closes the purchase of Strathroy Foods Ltd., a frozen-vegetable processing plant in Strathroy, Ontario.
Acquisition, through Ontario affiliate Strathroy Foods Ltd., of the Cobi Foods Ltd. frozen-vegetable processing plant in Ingersoll, Ontario.
Strathroy Foods adopts the company name Carriere Foods Ontario.
Acquisition of a frozen-vegetable processing and canning facility in Tecumseh, Ontario.
Bonduelle purchases Carriere Foods.
Bonduelle North America purchased Omstead Foods Inc. frozen vegetable division.
